Class Introduction
Hello Everyone, and Happy New Year! I hope that all of you had a safe and joyous holiday season. My name is Andrea Layton and I am in frigid Ann Arbor, MI but originally from New Jersey. I have been an educator for over 15 years. Currently, I am a Program Manager at the University of Michigan but I taught 7th grade Social Studies in Newark, NJ and served in various capacities to improve student success for marginalized groups.
My current role is supervising undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in pursuing college outreach. I also partner with several departments across campus who deliver educational workshops to under-resourced schools and community organizations. In addition, I speak at state and national conferences on topics related to school success, campus visits, outreach, race, equity, and college access.
I am excited about this course and I hope that I can learn new tools to implement in my work with faculty, staff, and students. Looking forward to working with all of you!
Warmest regards,
Andrea
Hey Andrea, HAPPY NEW YEAR to you as well! It was a pleasure having you as my partner last class. Hope your holiday was relaxing, now that we have to gear up for another learning adventure. This is a great blog. Very easy to converse.
